New townhouse/condo developments are meeting the need for mid-size, rental units

There’s long been a gap in the Greater Toronto Area’s housing market for adequate gentle-density homes, but there’s little more than lip service paid to delivering it.

Now, however, not only are developers paying heed to gentle density —otherwise known as the missing middle, and consisting of everything from mid-rise buildings to multiplexes and townhouses — they’re going a step further by also tackling the region’s rental shortage.
