AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - After many months of delay, construction is finally moving forward on a major sewer line project in downtown Amarillo.
City officials approved work to finish extending three-quarters (3/4) of a block of sanitary sewer main along SE 4th Avenue between Taylor and Polk streets.
With its current change order, the project will cost up to $136,277.
Crews first began digging last year, but the project came to a halt after engineers discovered an elevation bust.
“We had a challenge with an elevation bust that occurred in the design of that original project to extend some sewer lines over there. And now, we’re actually going to have to go back and just go about 3/4 of a block further than the original project intended, so that we can get that sewer to drain out of there
