Ever since I started thinking about writing this letter, I’ve been trying to figure out how to start it — you know, something snappy, to set a pace for the rest of the letter. Ordinarily when I write a letter, I start out by remarking that, well, there isn’t any news, but it seems like it’s my turn to write, etc., etc. But that kind of a start wouldn’t do for this letter, because this is supposed to be full of news.
