One man died in Burke County on Friday and two men are charged with his murder.

The Burke County Sheriff’s Office was called to the Lake James area about a cardiac arrest, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. Deputies found deceased man and started a homicide investigation. The victim was not identified in the release.

Two suspects were identified, Chad Allen MacJarrett, 27, who lived nearby on N.C. Highway 126, and Donaven James Purcell, 26, who lived at the address where deputies responded, 3105 N.C. Highway 126.

Both were charged with second degree murder. Neither was given bond. Both will appear in court Monday, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation is ongoing.

No other details were released as of Saturday.
