The Portland Trail Blazers have plenty of reason for optimism this season, but strong internal development remains their best path towards regaining relevance in the NBA. Young players dot Portland’s roster, but when we’re talking about hopes for superstardom, none stand taller than Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe. If Blazers fans are looking for a leap forward, it rests on the shoulders of those two former lottery picks.

Henderson and Sharpe have both been through growing pains during the early parts of their careers. Each has showed promise throughout. As they enter their third and fourth seasons, respectively, the young guards are looking to assume starting roles, perhaps even taking the lead spots in Portland’s rotation.
