HUBBARD, Neb. (KTIV) - The 15th annual Hoot Owl Days festival started on Friday, Aug. 22 and will last until Sunday, Aug. 24, in Hubbard, Nebraska.

Many events took place in the area surrounding Walnut Street Park

Cadrien Livingston, the chairperson for Hubbard Hoot Owl Days, says the tradition goes back many years, to the old Hubbard baseball team.

“So, the old Hubbard baseball team used to be called the Owls,” said Livingston, “and all the people, whenever they would win, would always hoot after the game, so it just became the Hubbard Hoot Owl Days tradition.”

Kids could participate in several fun events, including rock climbing, petting zoos, and a money dig.

Livingston says one factor that makes the festival popular with the community is affordability.
