For decades, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education offered services that helped Virginians lead healthier, happier and longer lives.

Funding for the national program, which started in 1992, was eliminated in July when President Donald Trump signed into law the “One Big Beautiful Bill.”

In Lynchburg, passage of the new law led to the end of SNAP-Ed classes at Park View Community Mission, which provided participants from across the Hill City and neighboring counties with critical information on food and nutrition.
