HOUSTON (KIAH) — FIEL HOUSTON called a meeting to highlight the plea for some immigrant families that feel confused about paperwork submitted on their behalf. This is what Executive Director Cesar Espinosa said people feel they've been lied to when seeking legal help.
Espinosa said he's seen cases where when people read their actual files or when they get their actual paperwork that they've submitted, it's not what families believed it to be.
"One of these programs is being used to lie to the federal government, the voucher program, the Violence Against Women Act, which states on its face when you go to the USCIS website, that folks have to be victims of battery or extreme cruelty," Espinosa said.
