The excitement is building for Horsegirl, the Chicago indie rock three-piece that has generated rave reviews for its latest album, Phonetics On and On and is playing to well-attended shows in North America. You could feel that excitement at the Pearl on Thursday as the audience started to gather for Horsegirl’s only Canadian show on its current tour. The band, which would have soundtracked a lot of Juno if it were released today, is hot at the moment.
First though, the Vancouver quartet Scarlet Fever took the stage. As the femme-fronted band got through the set, murmurs through the crowd started confirming what some people already knew : this band rocks. Scarlet Fever onl
