Malik Taylor, a social media creator with more than 200,000 TikTok followers, has died, his family announced.

"It is with love and gratitude that we, the family of Malik Taylor, acknowledge the incredible support and kindness shown following his untimely passing due to a tragic vehicle accident," Taylor's family said in a statement on Aug. 23 shared by his business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi.

Taylor died in a car accident in Concord, North Carolina, on Aug. 20, Lindsay Manson, a spokesperson for the Concord Police Department, confirmed to USA TODAY.

Concord police responded to Lapis Lane NW around 7:45 a.m. local time and found a Nissan Rogue had crashed in an embankment about 20 feet off the roadway. A victim, later identified as Taylor, was pronounced dead at the scene, and there were no other passengers or vehicles involved, Manson said.

Investigators ruled out foul play and suspect alcohol as a contributing factor. The Medical Examiner determined Taylor's cause of death was multiple blunt force injuries, Manson said.

TikToker's 'creativity, humor, and spirit touched countless lives,' family says

Taylor's family said in the statement shared by his fraternity that he was "so much more than a content creator."

"His creativity, humor, and spirit touched countless lives, and his legacy of inspiring, entertaining, and uplifting others will continue to live on," the statement said.

The family asked for "privacy and compassion as we grieve and find strength together as a family."

"We are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love from the community that has embraced him," the statement added. "Your encouragement and support mean more than words can ever express."

Alpha Kappa Psi's Zeta Phi chapter, which is based at Austin Peay State University, said Taylor was a member of its 2017 class.

"To know him was to know he was a light to everyone—always bringing laughter, joy, and a warm smile that brightened every room he entered," the chapter said in a social media statement.
