ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - Officials are responding to a reported explosion in unincorporated north St. Louis County Monday morning.

According to Black Jack Fire Chief Paul Peebles, crews responded to reports of explosions in the area of Candlewyck Club and Belcroft drives around 9:15 a.m. When they arrived, they found five homes on fire with "not much left of them there."

Three people were rescued and transported to the hospital, but there are an "unknown" number of victims.

Bomb and arson units have been called to the scene.

FOX 2 received several reports from nearby residents of a large "boom.". One viewer, Leslie Glass Westbrook said she was on Lindbergh when her car shook, describing it as an earthquake.

It is unclear what led up to the incident.
