NORTH CAROLINA, USA — North Carolina drivers caught speeding in school zones could face new automated tickets , as the state rolls out cameras aimed at keeping children safer, according to a report by WNCN.

Starting Oct. 1, cities and counties can start using speed-triggered cameras in school zones, issuing $250 tickets to help prevent crashes and protect students.

On July 1, Gov. Josh Stein signed Senate Bill 391 into law, giving local authorities the power to install cameras to catch speeders. The measure is part of a broader Department of Transportation effort to improve traffic safety.
