DARLINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A Florence man is facing charges after a bicyclist was killed Friday morning in a hit-and-run on East McIver Road in Darlington County, the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

Bryan Austin Davis is being held without bond after being charged with hit-and-run involving a death and second-offense driving with a suspended license, according to online records for the W. Glenn Campbell Detention Center. He was booked into the jail on Saturday night.

Charles Wayne Polson Jr. died at the scene of the incident, Coroner J. Todd Hardee said. It happened at about 11:15 a.m.

Troopers said Polson was riding west on the shoulder of E. McIver Road when he was hit. The vehicle that hit him was going in the same direction and fled the scene.
