GORDON COUNTY, Ga. — One person was killed this weekend and multiple others were airlifted after a driver fleeing law enforcement caused a crash in Gordon County, according to the sheriff's office.

The Gordon County Sheriff's Office said on Facebook that the driver of a Mercedes drove past a patrol car on I-75 and nearly hit it. A deputy then followed the Mercedes, which began "driving erratically" and "making rapid lane changes" before exiting onto Fairmount Hwy.

The driver "sped away at a high rate of speed" once the deputy initiated a stop at that point, going in excess of 100 mph according to the sheriff's office.
