COWETA COUNTY, Ga. — A father will spend the next two decades in prison without parole, months after a shooting and leading police on a high-speed chase with his 5-year-old in the backseat.

On Dec. 17, 2024, Dequidre Langston, 40, led LaGrange Police on a high-speed chase, traveling at 100 miles per hour with his child in the back seat.

Before the chase, Langston was accused of shooting a man along Handley Street. The chase ended in a crash. Langston's child was seen crawling from the wreckage, crying and stating 'daddy going too fast,' according to the Coweta County Judicial Circuit.

The child suffered minor injuries.

Langston was taken into custody. He had previously been convicted of at least five felonies, including cocaine possession in 2007, a shooting and firearm offense in 200
