The modern-day retelling of the biblical tale from the Book of Ruth is coming to Netflix on Sept. 26, and the streamer has unveiled a first look with the release of its official trailer.
Directed by Alanna Brown, “Ruth & Boaz” is a story about the up-and-coming Atlanta hip-hop artist Ruth Moably, who “gives up the glamorous life to start anew in rural Tennessee, where she cares for Naomi, her surrogate mother and meets the man of her dreams,” according to the logline.
The film stars Serayah McNeill, Tyler Lepley and Phylicia Rashad. Rounding out the cast are Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Walnette Santiago, Nijah Brenea, James Lee Thomas, Jermaine Dupri, Lecrae Moore, Christopher Broughton and Yung Joc.
“Ruth & Boaz” marks the first film from Tyler Perry and DeVon Franklin ’s faith-bas
