One of the women accused of pushing another woman off a cliff in DeKalb County pleaded guilty to murder Monday.
Newly filed court documents reveal Jessie Kelly, who was initially charged with capital murder, pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of murder.
As part of her plea agreement, Kelly was sentenced to 40 years in prison under the condition that she provides assistance in the prosecution of her mother, Loretta Kay Carr, by truthfully testifying during her capital murder trial.
Kelly and Carr are accused of killing 37-year-old Mary Elizabeth Isbell , whose remains were found in the Little River Canyon National Reserve in Fort Payne back in 2023.
At the time Isbell's remains were found, she had been reported missing for more than a year.
