A Huntsville man is accused of charging at officers and assaulting them over the weekend, according to police.

About 6 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to a reported disturbance in the 3100 block of Clopton Street.

When they arrived, officers heard a man yelling in the breezeway.

Police say the man, later identified as 26-year-old Kemonte Kentarieus Hobbs, attempted to run and hide when he saw the officers.

As officers called out to check on him, police say he suddenly charged at them, striking one officer in the face and another in the midsection.

Officers were able to safely bring the man under control using trained techniques.

Police say the officers sustained only minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.
