The Front Royal Planning Commission has endorsed the creation of rules opening the town to auxiliary dwellings.

Chair Connie Marshner and commissioners Andrew Brooks and Teresa Fedoryka voted in favor of a motion to forward to the Town Council a proposed amendment to the Zoning Ordinance, with a recommendation for approval, that would add auxiliary dwelling unit as a use allowed by right in residential districts. Vice Chair Allen Neel and commissioner Megan Marrazo did not attend the meeting. The text amendment includes revisions to the language in the ordinance pertaining to accessory buildings and structures.

Deputy Zoning Administrator John Ware presented information about the proposed zoning text amendment.
