WOODSTOCK — As the final procession of selected steers entered the livestock arena, families and spectators waited in anticipation to see which ones would be named Grand Champion Market Steer and Reserve Grand Champion Market Steer in the 4-H/FFA Beef Show on Tuesday afternoon at the Shenandoah County Fair.

‘It was very much a shock to me that I had won another year, considering it’s almost my last,” said Brooklyn Clark, who won Grand Champion Market Steer with Blaze, a crossbreed black and white steer that weighed in at 1,431 pounds.

“We worked together for about 10 months to where he was halter broke and easy to work with, easy to lead around,” the 16-year-old explained, noting that her biggest challenge was getting him trained properly due to his size and strength.
