PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- R.I. Special Assistant Attorney General Devon Flanagan has been placed on unpaid leave for six months, a week and a half after she made national headlines for berating Newport police officers as they arrested her during a night out on the town.
Police charged Flanagan, 34, with willful trespass after she allegedly refused to leave a restaurant on Bannister’s Wharf on the night of Aug. 14. She was captured on police body-worn camera video repeatedly telling officers, "I'm an AG!"
Attorney General Peter Neronha said he met with Flanagan on Monday to discuss the situation and inform her of her punishment, though he did not use the word suspension.
