TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Tampa officials said crews will begin removing street art at 47 locations across the city this week following recent direction from the Florida Department of Transportation.
FDOT gave the city of Tampa two weeks to remove the art, which includes painted crosswalks from the "Crosswalks to Classrooms" program and several painted intersections.
City officials said some of the work to remove the art will happen at night for safety concerns and to minimize traffic congestion.
"This doesn’t mean art is disappearing from Tampa. We continue to encourage and celebrate community art projects in spaces where they can truly shine. Let’s keep Tampa colorful together," the city said in a stateme
