Deftones kicked off a short swing through Canada at Vancouver’s Rogers Arena Friday—the same day they dropped their 10th studio album, p rivate music.

Phantogram and the Barbarians of California were solid in support, kicking off the night with a pair of very different sets.

Phantogram is a duo formed in 2007 with Sarah Barthel on vocals, keyboards, and multiple instruments, and Josh Carter on vocals and guitar. Their set was lush and dreamy, with Barthel’s vocals floating around on top of driving electronic rock. It got us all ready for the main gig. I’d see them again.
