DERRY, N.H. —

The New England Sports Center in Derry is closing.

The current owner, Joe Goodwin, said the closure comes after seven years of legal issues in connection with the former business owner, Dennis Reed .

In 2023, News 9 reported that Reed was convicted of felonious sexual assault and sentenced to more than 20 years in prison .

Due to these legal issues, Goodwin said he changed the name of the facility from Sports-Zone to New England Sports Center.

Goodwin said the building has been sold, and it will no longer be a sports facility.

The center is closing on Sept. 30.
