BENTON COUNTY, ARKANSAS, Ark. — A Rogers man serving a prison sentence for shaking his infant son and causing permanent injuries was back in court on Monday, facing a murder charge after his child's death 15 years later.
Zachary James Campbell pleaded not guilty on Aug. 25, according to the Benton County Prosecutor's Office. His pretrial hearing was set for Sept. 29, 2025.
Campbell was 19 at the time of his arrest for battery on Oct. 24, 2009.
His son, Carter, was just five weeks old when he was hospitalized in Rogers after he was shaken. Carter arrived at the hospital with multiple injuries, including a brain bleed, bruising all over his body, and a broken clavicle, according to court documents.
