SAN DIEGO, (KUSI/FOX5)--A year ago, Kye Cooper, a sophomore and a new transfer to San Diego High School, took the season-opening kickoff against Montgomery 87 yards to the house in the Cavers' 20-2 win over the Aztecs on Aug. 23, 2024.
Not much has changed for the dual-threat Kye and the Cavers.
On Friday, Kye flashed his signature bright pink gloves and snatched a third-and-long floater along the left sideline for a 50-yard touchdown catch in the win over, again, Montgomery, and this time a 22-0 shutout to kick off the 2025 season.
Kye was unstoppable offensively as the junior hauled in 10 catches for 182 yards and a pair of touchdowns on Friday night. He also tallied a trio of punt returns for 23 yards.
