GREENSBORO, N.C. — Whether it's the Grandparent Scam or the 'I need help' scam, every family needs a code word to know whether their loved one is really on the phone.
So often, we think we are getting a call from our loved one. But it's really some guy in a phone bank, reading from a script--- saying your child, your grandchild, is in trouble and needs to be bailed out.
"They push you to operate quickly, get to the bank, and get that money quickly. Your granddaughter is in terrible trouble. So it's, it's the sense that they push, a sense of urgency that I think suspends your own ability to be rational," said Jane King, a Fraud victim.
