The Scottsdale City Council will not take up the question of scrubbing all references to diversity and sustainability from the General Plan at tonight’s meeting.

Scottsdale City Manager Greg Caton issued a press release late Saturday stating he has withdrawn the item from the meeting agenda after consulting with Acting City Attorney Luis Santaella.

“Because the focus is now on state statutes that the city is already in compliance with, there is no requirement or need for the City Council to initiate these changes (and thus, no need for the agenda item),” the press release said.

The diversity and sustainability changes were tucked in with a number of land use changes, such as allowing accessory dwelling units, once deemed necessary because of new state laws that no longer appear needed.
