TANNER, Ala. - Limestone County Sheriff's deputies arrested a suspect in connection with a shooting on Sunday night in Tanner. The incident occurred about 9 p.m. on Stewart Road.

Deputies identified the suspect as Lakeshia Renee Peoples, 40, from Madison. She allegedly fled the scene after a victim was shot and later airlifted to a hospital. The victim's condition is currently unknown.

Sheriff's investigators worked through the night, leading to a search warrant for a residence on Arbor Ridge in Madison. Deputies executed the warrant Monday morning and arrested Peoples without any issues.

Peoples faces a charge of first-degree assault and is held at the Limestone County Detention Facility. Her bond will be set by a judge at a later date.
