A derelict doctor's surgery will become a 13-bed house in multiple occupation (HMO) after plans were approved by officials. The site had previously been labelled a "squat", with developers saying their plan will create "high quality" housing in the area.
The plan, from Jay Staniforth, will see the redevelopment of 99 Belvoir Road in Coalville - a building which has stood empty since 2016. The site was formerly a doctor's surgery, with plans to convert it into seven flats approved in 2022, but these changes never materialised.
Now, the former doctor's surgery, which in its years as a vacant building became an "overnight squat" according to one Coalville councillor , will be turned into a 13-bed HMO. It is a move Mr Staniforth says will bring an "underutilised building" back into use
