A comprehensive win for the Dodgers as Andy Pages and Emmet Sheehan carried the load in this 7-0 defeat of the Reds, taking advantage of the Padres’ loss to open up a one-game lead in a tight NL West race.
The second half hasn’t been too kind to Pages, which helps explain him batting eighth against one of the toughest right-handed starters in the big leagues. At least for one game, though, Pages showed why he has a .933 OPS at home, helping Los Angeles break through against Hunter Greene with a couple of homers against the Reds’ ace.
Pages started the scoring with a solo shot in the third. After the Dodgers wasted an opportunity for a crooked number with the next two getting on in that inning, only for no more runs to come across, he showed how it’s done against Greene in the fifth.
