FRANKFORT – (KT) The Kentucky State Police (KSP) Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (CVE) Division is taking part in Brake Safety Week, a nationwide traffic safety initiative designed to reduce crashes caused by defective or inadequate braking systems on large trucks and buses.
Now through Saturday, KSP officers and inspectors will conduct focused inspections and remove from service any commercial vehicles found with brake-related violations.
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) reports that brake issues consistently rank as the leading cause of vehicles being placed out of service during roadside inspections. Poorly maintained or improperly installed brake systems can significantly reduce a vehicle’s ability to stop, creating serious risks for both drivers and the traveling public
