MURRAY – The United Way of Murray-Calloway County is continuing to work toward building a transitional housing complex as part of a strategic partnership with HOPE Calloway, and the board hopes to make some major announcements on its progress soon.
United Way Board President Paul McCreary sent an email to supporters about the complex they are currently attempting to fund, which will be called Opportunity Place. Starting next week, the United Way will be participating in the Murray-Calloway County Community Foundation’s Drs. Dick & Jan Weaver Challenge for Charities. The Weaver Challenge will take place Sept. 1 through Nov. 30, and the United Way raised more than $54,000 last year, which was the most of any participating nonprofit.
