Aug. 24, 1975 – SCOUTS ON WHITEWATER
Sandpoint scout troop 111 sponsored by the Kiwanis Club left on a week long whitewater survey on the Clark Fork and Flathead Rivers. Officially known as project Pi-Qua-Sa-Wil-La-Qua (Flathead word for whitewater), it is a Bicentennial project of the Idaho Panhandle Council and Bonner County’s Bicentennial Committee. The boys will collect water samples at points along the rivers, which will be packed in ice and rushed to Sandpoint by volunteer couriers daily. Taking part in the project are Wendell Calkins, Chris Cordes, Miles Conrad, Bert May, Bob Allen, Asst. Scoutmasters
