MEXICALI — The El Centro Fire Department was recognized last week by the City of Mexicali during its annual Día del Bombero (Firefighter's Day) celebrations for a significant donation that has bolstered the emergency response capabilities of its cross-border partner.

The honor was presented to members of the El Centro Fire Department, who were in attendance to commemorate the strong bond between the two cities. The recognition stems from a donation made in November 2024, when the El Centro Fire Department, under the direction of Fire Chief Joseph Bernal, provided a fully serviced fire engine to the Mexicali Fire Department.
