CONWAY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A Conway nonprofit group is proving that trash can be turned into treasure by deconstructing old buildings and reusing the materials, which helps the environment and the community.
The construction and demolition industry brings a lot of waste and greenhouse gases to our overflowing landfills, according to officials at the Conway Architectural Salvage and Heritage Project, or Conway Salvage. So, the group is doing things differently.
“We’re champions of this idea that the older buildings were actually made from far superior materials, and most of them can be saved from the landfill," Alan Todd, executive director of Conway Salvage, said.
