PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Although Clark County has recorded a faint increase in the number of people experiencing homelessness overall, its new report shows some year-over-year improvements for certain demographics and problem areas for others.
Council for the Homeless released its 2024 Homeless Crisis Response System Report on Friday. The organization found that 8,894 people from 3,804 households across the county experienced homelessness last year — a nearly 2% rise compared to 2023.
When looking at households specifically, rather than individuals, the council reported a 14% decline in households experiencing homelessness. But researchers noted this could reflect an increase in the average size of families in these circumstances, living in places like vehicles, tents or emergency shelte
