CANYON, Texas (KFDA) - Ruben visits a quilt shop in Canyon and learns how they are serving the community in more ways than one.

Liz Wood, owner of The Quilted Cowgirl Etc., says she got started quliting in her hometown of Wheeler.

“The ladies in my community met at the church twice a month, and when I was 20 years old, I decided that I wanted to go to the church and learn how to quilt,” said Wood.

She says she learned how to sew in home economics in high school. Judy Willard and Suzanne Hampton were her teachers.

“That’s kind of where I made garments, not quilts or anything like that. So then the ladies in my community started teaching me, pouring into me everything they knew, and that’s how it started,” said Wood.
