Former USF Football Coach Jim Leavitt Arrested in Florida
PINELLAS COUNTY, Fla. – Jim Leavitt, the founding head coach of the University of South Florida (USF) football program, was arrested Monday by St. Petersburg Police on felony and misdemeanor charges.
According to the Pinellas County court records, the 68-year-old Leavitt faces a felony grand theft charge and two misdemeanor counts of simple battery and domestic battery. The arrest report indicates that Leavitt allegedly grabbed his ex-girlfriend by the arm and took her Louis Vuitton purse and other items.
He was booked into Pinellas County Jail on Monday at 8:40 PM.
