MARRERO, La. (WGNO) — A man is dead and a woman hospitalized after a shooting in Marrero.

Around 9 a.m. on Aug. 26, Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office deputies were called to the scene of a disturbance in the 4700 block of 4th Street. A second call was made soon after reporting that a woman had been shot.

Responding deputies arrived to find a 55-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. Deputies reported that suspect, a 61-year-old man, was found with a fatal self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment and was listed in stable condition.

An investigation revealed, the suspect allegedly forcefully entered the victim's home, shot her before reportedly shooting himself.
