JACKSON, MI — Expect to be checked with a metal detector if attending an athletic event at the Jackson High School Football field this year.
Jackson Public Schools announced Monday, Aug. 25, the district is adding additional security measures for all events at the football field for the 2025-2026 school year.
Enhanced security measures will begin with the junior varsity football team’s home opener against Western High School on Wednesday, Aug. 27. The main ticket booth entrance off Edwards Street will be the only point of entry to the field for attendees.
Additionally, staff will be using metal detecting security wands on all spectators entering the field. This security measure may cause delays at the entrance, so people are encouraged to plan ahead and arrive early.
