SCOTLAND COUNTY, N.C. (WBTW) -- A 15-year-old boy was hospitalized Sunday and remains in serious condition and a man is facing charges after the boy was mauled by five dogs in Scotland County.

Joshua Morton was charged with four counts of dangerous dogs at large and was given a $250,000 bond, Major Roger Alford said. The boy has undergone hours of surgery and is heavily sedated.

The incident happened on Sneads Grove Road when the boy, Maison Adner, was on a bicycle with his 11-year-old cousin, according to Adner's aunt. His cousin was able to chase the dogs away.

Alford says three of the dogs are in custody but two of them are still at large.
