GASTONIA, N.C. — WCNC Charlotte has chosen to use this mugshot because of the nature of the alleged crime.

Gaston County Police said a man was recently arrested and accused of sexually assaulting a child.

The department announced Tuesday that it had arrested 45-year-old Jon Derek Pittman of Gastonia on Sunday, August 24, by its Fugitive Apprehension and Suspect Tracking (FAST) team. Pittman is charged with two counts of statutory rape of a child under 15 and two counts of statutory rape of a child by and adult.

Police said he is being held in jail under a $750,000 bond. The department said no further information is being shared as of publication because of the nature of the investigation.
