A bond hearing was held at the Duchesne County Administration Offices on Monday regarding private activity bonds for the Uinta Basin Railway. This was in addition to another bond hearing by the Seven County Infrastructure Coalition in June that gathered public comment. The Notice for Bonds for the project states it is for the “Issuance of Private Activity Bonds in an Amount Not Exceeding $2.4 Billion Dollars to Finance Rail Surface Transportation and Freight Transfer Facility and Related Improvements.” Duchesne County Commissioner Greg Miles serves on the Seven County Infrastructure Coalition board and shared that Monday’s meeting was important in order to hear from the citizens in a host county of the railway project.
