SPOKANE, Wash - Wastewater data analyzed to show disease levels show a high level of COVID-19 in Spokane and Spokane Valley.
The Washington Department of Health tracks the wastewater to find levels of respiratory illnesses.
Current data shows elevated levels in Spokane County, Olympia and the Seattle area.
The DOH data shows Spokane itself has moderate levels of COVID-19 in the wastewater, with high levels in Spokane County.
The state doesn't track COVID cases like it did during the pandemic, but it does track hospitalizations, emergency visits and deaths.
Emergency visits and hospitalizations are up statewide, but COVID-19 still makes up about 2% of hospital visits.
