GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) - A man was arrested on child neglect charges after a 2-month-old overdosed on fentanyl.

According to the arrest report for Clifford Byron Trunick, 41, Alachua County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a home on Monday on reports of an infant in distress.

The baby was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital for treatment of an overdose. Medical staff say the child tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl. The baby was placed in the ICU for further treatment.

Deputies conducted interviews of the people in the home, including Trunick, and had them drug tested. He tested positive for cocaine and fentanyl.

In a search of the home, deputies found cocaine in the bathroom and in the sink drain.
