For the second straight season, the Padres will have some time to work into a rhythm before facing the Dodgers.

The 2026 season will begin March 26 at Petco Park with a three-game series against the Detroit Tigers, according to a schedule released on Tuesday. The Padres’ first game against the Dodgers doesn’t arrive until May 18, also at Petco Park. This year, the teams didn’t meet for the first time until June 9.

Major League Baseball has not finalized its international plans, but the Padres’ first month of the 2026 season is expected to include a trip to Mexico City for two games against the host Diamondbacks (April 25-26).
