Peoria is gearing up for its first land auction under the city’s agreement with the Arizona State Land Department.

At a public meeting Aug. 26, city staff will ask the council to approve a budget amendment in the amount of $1.412 million from Peoria’s contingency intended for the purchase, should the city be the successful bidder.

As of now, it appears Peoria will have no competition at the auction, as there are no other registered bidders.

City officials said it would be inappropriate to speculate ahead of the public auction, but told the Peoria Independent that more details will be discussed in full context at the council meeting.
