PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A Washington farmer is behind a coffee giant’s customer-favorite pumpkin spice lattes.

Although summer is still here, the beloved drink and other fall-inspired offerings returned to Starbucks on Tuesday. The Seattle-headquartered chain has revealed that Jeff Leber, who runs a farm in the Walla Walla Valley, has grown the pumpkins used for the seasonal menu since 2018.

“Everybody thinks I raise jack-o’-lanterns, carving pumpkins,” Leber told the company in an interview. “When I tell them I raise pumpkins for Pumpkin Spice Lattes, they don’t believe me. Because who would do that, right? Not a guy in a small town like this.”
