FARGO — For the first time, North Dakota has a Miss Africa.

Davina Fahnbulleh of Fargo was crowned the inaugural Miss Africa North Dakota on Aug. 23 at the Hjemkomst Center in Moorhead. The pageant debuted this year as part of August's All-African Festival, which organizers said highlights African heritage and celebrates the state’s diverse immigrant communities.

Fahnbulleh, representing Serengeti, was chosen from a group of seven contestants, all of whom were either born in Africa or are of significant African descent and maintain a cultural or social connection to their ancestoral homeland.

The new queen was crowned by the special guest of honor, Queen Porcha Taylor, Miss Africa USA, from Washington, D.C.
